Central Valley Matters virtual fundraiser 12/4

From our colleagues at CVM:

California gave our country hope on Nov. 4th — and now the country needs us to step up again! Central Valley Matters (CVM) volunteers were thrilled to see the great turnout by young people and Latinos across the nation. We are laser focused on CD-22 — a congressional district that is young (median age 30 years old) and 73% Latino, where folks on the ground are angry and energized now more than ever! On December 4th at 5:30 PST please join CVM to hear the latest updates from powerhouse Central Valley insiders to learn why your support truly matters.

District 22 is held by David Valadao. With the Prop 50 redistricting, it’s a toss-up, but if we get people registered and to the polls, demographically it’s Blue. Link to sign up for the fundraiser. Alternatively, link to ActBlue for donations.

  1. Greetings from Buenos Aires. How do I donate to this campaign? When I clicked on the link it only sent me to registering for the virtual fundraiser. I’ll be traveling Dec 4 but want to donate, Judy

    • The second link should be to Act Blue, but they will not accept your contribution until you return stateside, to protect against bogus Trump charges that they take illegal contributions from non-citizens. Maybe the site is even smart enough to not let you reach Act Blue from outside the USA.

  2. I looked up this district–so interesting on many counts:

    • Almost 75% Latino
    • Previously represented by Devin Nunes, infamous for doing Trump’s bidding in the first term
    • Both Valadao and Nunes are from Portuguese immigrant families
    • My son’s girlfriend & baby mama is from Hanford, which is partly in the district, and where Valadao is from

Definitely a possibility for a flip, given how Latinos have been treated under Trump. I would imagine that many of them, even if eligible to vote, may be intimidated or reluctant to engage.

I am all for helping these folks organize and get people to the polls!

    • Just for the record, when Nunes had CA–22, it was located north of most of Valadao’s district (and more Republican); at that time most of this district was numbered CA–23. Demographically, we should be winning this seat—even before Prop 50, which makes it even more favorable.
